Filipino Folklore Art Grips the Bay

This video from MYX TV (Asian, Independent & Mainstream Music Videos and Lifestyle) covers the Tabi Tabi Po/Filipino Folklore art exhibit held at 1:AM (“1st Amendment”) Gallery on November 13, 2009 in San Francisco.

I attended this event as part of my research for my master’s project on Filipino Hip-Hop Culture in the San Francisco Bay Area and was interviewed at 3:07.

Hip-hop culture has beckoned legions of Filipino Americans in search of identity and belonging to its creative forefront. There was even some hip-hop influenced artwork at this event, which wasn’t a decidedly hip-hop event.
